1 in 4 Workers at Big Businesses Outsourced or Temps
10 July, 2018
A quarter of workers for big Korean businesses are "non-payroll staff" or temps hired through outsourcing firms.
According to the Labor Ministry on Sunday, 23.6 percent of the 2.2 million workers in businesses with more than 3,000 staff are outsourced.
Most are cleaners, security guards and drivers. If temporary workers are included, the proportion of non-regular staff rises to a whopping 36.6 percent.
In companies with more than 300 workers, the proportion stands at 37.7 percent.
