10 Players Who Fired Their Agents
With one of the hottest prospects in Europe recently parting ways with his agent amid strong interest from top clubs, here are more footballers who sacked their agents, including one who reportedly fired his mom from being his representative.

In a statement released on Twitter, Uruguay international and Benfica striker Darwin Nunez announced he had split with his agent Edgardo Lasalvia and signed with super-agent Jorge Mendes, who also represents Cristiano Ronaldo.

Nunez, 22, is considered among the most talented young forwards in world football, having scored an impressive 28 goals in 35 matches across all competitions for the Portuguese giants so far this season. It is claimed the ex-Almeria striker could be eyeing a move to a top side in Europe ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, with clubs such as West Ham United and Manchester United believed to be interested in his signature.

While it is common for players to ditch their agents for more high-profile representatives as they seek moves to bigger clubs, others have taken this action after the person representing them failed to secure desired transfers.

In 2021, Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman reportedly sacked his agent after a failed switch to Chelsea, while Wilfried Zaha is believed to have gone down a similar path in 2019 when his representative could not conjure him a move to Arsenal.

In the same year, it was reported by several outlets across Europe that Adrien Rabiot fired his mom as his agent after she did not manage to get him a move to Spanish giants Barcelona, although his mother is believed to still be heavily involved in his career.

Marco Verratti, meanwhile, went public with his decision to fire his agent in 2017. It was said that his former rep had attempted to take him to the Catalan club, a move that reportedly infuriated Paris Saint-Germain at the time.
