Guards opened fire on Sunday (Nov 29) to include a prison riot close to Sri Lanka's capital, where at least six inmates were killed and 35 wounded even while protesting a good surge of coronavirus an infection.

Law enforcement spokesman Ajith Rohana said elite police commandos were deployed to the Mahara prison where had inmates rioted against overcrowded circumstances and demanded their early let go.
