60% of Starbucks Outlets in Korea to Be Cashless
06 April, 2019
More than 60 percent of Starbucks outlets in Korea will be cashless amid the growing use of credit cards and mobile payments, the coffee giant said Thursday.
About 400 out of its total 1,280 stores have already ditched cash and about 350 will soon follow suit, increasing the number of cashless stores to over 750 nationwide.
Starbucks also plans to encourage its customers to use payment methods other than cash and embrace alternatives like its prepaid cards, even in outlets that accept cash.
"Cashless payments make transactions faster, allowing customers to spend less time waiting in check-out lines by letting them do away with their wallets, and we can pay more attention to customers' other need," a staffer at Starbucks said.
