A pair of sandal to be distributed by British Sports
16 July, 2018
British distributor Shorts International is all set to distribute short documentary tilted 'A Pair of Sandal', directed by journalist and independent filmmaker Josim Ahmed. The documentary, shot on iPhone, was inspired by a striking image that also gives the four-minute film its title.
The film is a documentary on Rohingya refugees, and will be released soon on television, online, mobile apps and many other international platforms.
This deal has been confirmed by the film's maker Ahmed Josim Uddin. Views & Visions production, who made this film, signed a non-exclusive deal with Shorts International, in order to distribute the film in theatres, television, airlines, mobile, video-on-demand services and other platforms.
"A Pair of Sandal" synopsis can be explained in a single question for three groups of stakeholders: to whom is the Rohingya child showing that one pair of sandal? Is it to the Burmese military and the Myanmar government?
Or to super powers like Russia, China and India, who, for commercial reasons, is blindly supporting this genocide by the Burmese army? Or is the child showing it to the entire world, which is silent in spite of seeing mass-cleansing, rape, arson and massive human rights violations?
The film was made without any voice-overs and interviews and it has open captions in English, Italian, French and Spanish languages, which were written by Farid Ahmed. The music direction and sound design was done by Ripon Nath. It also participated in Naples Human Rights Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, and Dhaka International Children Film Festival.
Shorts International releases the academy-nominated short films on an annual basis. They have dedicated TV channel for short films, titled Shorts TV, which is telecast in US and many countries in Europe. Josim's acclaimed film "Daag" premiered on Shorts TV.
