A quizzical education: virtual quiz nights to keep you entertained in isolation

Heading to a restaurant for a bite to eat and socialising over a night-time quiz is a time-honoured tradition for most. But with persons staying home at this time, UAE establishments are getting creative … and bringing the quizzes them.

Listed below are the restaurants hosting virtual quiz nights to greatly help those self-isolation stay entertained.

In order to “bring back a feeling of normalcy”, Dubai's McGettigan’s has launched a free of charge Quarantine Quiz, to occur every Tuesday at 8pm, starting tonight (March 31).

Quiz master Jono will be conducting your competition live from McGettigan’s JLT, with entry free for anyone who wants to interact. Participants can be a section of the live quiz by signing into MyQuiz.org - the quiz code will be shared on McGettigan’s Facebook page, with no more than 50 devices having the ability to participate weekly, on a first come, first serve basis. Enter solo, as a couple or as children and get cracking on the challenging multiple-choice questions. Answers need to be submitted live from each player, directly through their devices on MyQuiz.org - so there’s no opportunity of cheating!

To sweeten the deal, a few of the prizes shared add a brunch and stay for just two at McGettigans JLT (the “stay” part identifies a staycation at Bonnington Hotel afterwards) and a breakfast-for-four deal at McGettigan’s in Souk Madinat. Naturally, prizes are to be redeemed once doors are back open - that provides residents plenty to look forward to.
