Abu Dhabi hotel revenues increase 46% in Q3 as household tourism picks up
Abu Dhabi hotels recorded a 46 per cent surge in third quarter income as domestic tourism helped the sector rebound following pandemic-related activity restrictions earlier in the entire year.

The emirate registered the best resort occupancy rates and third-biggest earnings per room in the Gulf region in the 3rd quarter, Abu Dhabi's Section of Lifestyle and Tourism said in a statement on Sunday.

The quantity of guests at hotels increased 95 % through the period, DCT Abu Dhabi added. Resorts in Abu Dhabi commenced reopening in June following comprehensive sanitisation procedures. Nearly all establishments in the emirate own signed up for the Go Safe qualification programme, which requires accommodations to enforce well being safety measures.

DCT Abu Dhabi said in its most current update that 93 hotels had signed up for the government's Go Safe and sound campaign by the 3rd quarter.

“Regardless of the profound disruptions caused by restrictions to public flexibility, the positive indicators we've seen ... are a testament to the agility and adaptability of Abu Dhabi’s tourism sector in response to the evolving industry scenery," said Saood Al Hosani, performing undersecretary of DCT Abu Dhabi.

"Looking ahead, tourism is still among Abu Dhabi’s most significant drivers to economic development, and we greatly look forward to continuing our use the Abu Dhabi government, health authorities, our companions and wider network to build on these achievements for several years to come.”

Abu Dhabi hotels' performance was also complemented by an 83 % upsurge in footfall across malls and a 119 % upsurge in airline bookings.

Meanwhile, seating convenience of all airlines operating in Abu Dhabi increased 364 per cent through the third quarter, further supporting the hospitality and retail sectors recover.

Abu Dhabi has offered various initiatives to support the tourism and retail industry after the coronavirus pandemic led hotels and restaurants to close straight down temporarily as a result of movement restrictions.

The emirate has provided up to 20 per cent rental rebates for restaurants, tourism and entertainment facilities. It has additionally waived tourism and municipality service fees for outlets in Abu Dhabi to aid them in the wake of the pandemic.
