AC Milan Secure Derby Bragging Rights In Fine Style
AC Milan secured the bragging rights in the Derby della Madonnina after rallying from behind to defeat Inter Milan on Saturday night.

Serie A
Result: Inter Milan 1-2 AC Milan
Date: 05 February 2022
Venue: San Siro

Milan recalled Franck Kessie, Olivier Giroud and Ismail Bennacer as Zlatan Ibrahimovic missed out, while Inter coach Simone Inzaghi handed a start to Dumfries in place of Mateo Darmian.

Inter had the ball in the back of the net on 10 minutes when Dumfries nodded home a cross from Ivan Perisic, although celebrations were cut short after the offside flag was raised. It was one-way traffic after that as Lautaro Martinez went close with a curling effort on 26 minutes, before Dumfries was denied by Maignan moments later.

Milan's resistance was broken five minutes before the halftime break when Ivan Perisic lost his marker to volley home an inviting cross from Hakan Calhanoglu for his fifth goal of the season.

Milan looked a bit better after the halftime break but still lacked the cutting edge in the final third, with Stefano Pioli introducing Brahim Diaz for Kessie after the hour mark.

The decision to introduce Diaz paid off as the orchestrated the equaliser with 15 minutes left on the clock as his scuffed effort fell to Giroud who made no mistake from close range.

Giroud completed the turnaround for Milan three minutes with a lovely curling strike into the bottom corner after getting on the of Calabria's cross.

The game did end on a sour note for Milan, who finished the game with 10 men after Theo Hernandez was shown a straight red card for late challenge but the result had already been secured.
