Alabama company HData launches business intelligence solution for regulated energy industry
HData, the only regulatory technology (regtech) company delivering streamlined compliance and business intelligence to the energy industry, this week announced the next generation of its energy regulatory business intelligence.

The general availability launch of the product will bring smart dashboards and predictive analytics to inform financial management and regulatory compliance.

After graduating from the Techstars Alabama EnergyTech Accelerator program, HData announced a strategic partnership and relocation to Birmingham in December 2021. The partnership formed with Alabama Power has created a model for early-stage businesses gaining mentorship and industry knowledge. “Never before has a regulated utility partnered with a regtech startup to create new business intelligence software,” said HData co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Yuval Lubowich.

“We had unprecedented access to the way that leaders in the utilities industry work with regulatory information. We were able to bring in our HData team’s best-in-class abilities in data science, economics, user experience and software development. And the result speaks for itself: the next generation of energy regulatory business intelligence,” Lubowich said.

HData’s platform uses regulatory data to automate compliance and business intelligence for electric utilities, gas companies and oil pipelines. The mission of the company, founded in 2018, is to digitize the interface between the regulatory and private sectors by creating and scaling platforms that take advantage of digital reporting.

“We have had an opportunity to continue to support the Techstars Alabama EnergyTech Accelerator by partnering with HData to help create HData Insights,” said Alabama Power Assistant Treasurer Chris Blake. “HData used our industry expertise to develop this novel solution that can make data analysis a little easier. We are thrilled to see this team bring their new product to market that provides an innovative and flexible way for energy regulatory professionals to manage and view their regulatory information.”
