Andrew Tate has brainwashed teenagers: UK teachers
08 January, 2023
The influences that the controversial Andrew Tate has had on the thinking of British teenagers has teachers in the UK very concerned, who are already creating plans to try to re-educate their students and counteract the bad influence exerted by the controversial character.
Tate is currently serving time in a Romanian jail on charges of rape and sex trafficking, but has had a negative effect on teenagers who copy his toxic behavior, according to The Sunday Times.
A debate among pupils sparked red flags
A south London school held a presentation with 14-year-old pupils to get their thoughts on what Tate, who is openly misogynistic and whose majority of followers on social media are male, publishes.
The discussion revolved around rape, with at least a dozen students saying that women were responsible for their sexual assaults, an idea widely held by Tate. When asked how they would feel if the rape victim was a relative of theirs, students "changed their tune when I put her mother or sister in there, but it was troubling that some core kids didn't and kept saying they would be the ones to blame," one teacher stated.
Tate's toxic messages
Andrew Tate is a social media star and gained fame for kickboxing, but he has amassed a fortune of about $100 million by posting videos in which he advises men to treat women like commodities.
Tate claims that women belong in "the kitchen" and should be controlled by men through violence. As a result, Sophie Whitehead, who teaches workshops on consent, called his rhetoric "violent" and said it has "affected so many young people."
Jay Jordan, a teacher in Dundee, Scotland, said, "You used to have to deal with sexist stuff, but now it's explicitly related to Andrew Tate - boys won't stop talking about him," she said.
"We've definitely gone backwards and it's worrying," she said.
