Asiana Wins Incheon-Ulaanbaatar Route
Asiana Airlines has won coveted additional flights between Incheon and Ulaanbaatar, which had been monopolized by Korean Air for 30 years, while a budget carrier takes on flights from Busan to the Mongolian capital.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said Monday that it distributed rights to new flights to eight Korean airlines.

Asiana won the most sought-after route, operating three flights a week to Ulaanbaatar. Air Busan secured one flight a week from Gimhae to the Mongolian capital.

A new route between Busan and Singapore was given to Eastar Jet and Jeju Air, who will each operate seven flights a week.

The ministry hopes that the decision will help low-cost carriers that are trying to expand to the mid land long-haul market.
