One of FC Barcelona's key players has made a shocking confession about his relationship with football.
Most professional footballers follow the activity intently beyond their own teams, however, not Blaugrana and Germany goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
In a recently available interview, the 27-year-old revealed that he barely pays focus on the beautiful game, admitting that he will not know the names of many players he has truly gone up against.
"People laugh when I inform them I have no idea anything football," Ter Stegen told El Pais.
"I don't really watch much football, apart from games that look good or when I've got an individual interest because someone I understand is playing.
"Sometimes persons ask me what a player's name is, and I've got no idea.
"Sometimes, in LaLiga for instance, names escape me. I don't know what opposition players are called.
"But afterwards, if they show me the videos, I realise that I understand perfectly who's who.
"I recall more how they move on the pitch, how they shoot or how they slip their markers than just what a player's name is.
"It's a little weird, but it happens when we're analysing opposition teams."
Having joined Barca in 2014, Ter Stegen has represented the club on 224 occasions so far.
