Beijing schools closed again due to city finds 31 even more virus cases
Beijing shut all its schools again about Wednesday as metropolis reported 31 fresh coronavirus cases, with authorities in the Chinese capital rushing to curb an outbreak associated with a wholesale grocery store.

The new cases have raised fears of a second wave of infections as China had mainly brought its domestic outbreak in order.

City authorities on Tuesday had also announced a travel ban for residents of "medium- or perhaps high-risk" areas of the town, while requiring different residents to have nucleic acid tests as a way to leave the capital.

Meanwhile, almost all schools -- which had generally reopened -- had been ordered to close again and go back to online classes.

"The epidemic problem in the capital is incredibly severe," Beijing metropolis spokesman Xu Hejian warned at a press conference Tuesday.

Tens of thousands of folks in the city linked to the virus cluster -- believed to have were only available in the capital's sprawling Xinfadi wholesale grocery store -- are being tested for the virus, with almost 30 residential compounds in metropolis now under lockdown.

Beijing has reported 137 infections during the last six times, with six new asymptomatic cases and three suspected cases on Wednesday, according to the city's health commission.

Yet another two domestic cases, one in neighbouring Hebei province and another in Zhejiang, were reported by national authorities on Wednesday, while there were 11 imported cases.
