Belt and Road differs from Marshall Plan: senior Chinese official
China’s promotion of the One Belt One Road Initiative will never involve geopolitical games or the formation of a destabilizing group, which differs from the nature of the Marshall Plan, said Zhang Xiaoqiang, former deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission, Sina Finance reported.

Zhang also emphasized that China will not output its backward capacity via the initiative. The cooperation of technology, capacity and resource will always remain in line with each country’s current level of development and separate needs.

Meanwhile, Zhang said China will not export its social system and development model, nor will it impose its will on other countries.

Several projects under the initiative, including the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway in Indonesia, China-Laos Railway, Gwadar Port in Pakistan and Piraeus Port in Greece are under construction.

In 2017, China’s trade volume with Belt and Road countries has exceeded US$1.1 trillion, accounting for 26.5% of the total trade volume.
