Real Madrid experienced for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions Little league with a 2-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach in Wednesday evening.
Madrid took an early on lead in the ninth minute. After regaining possession at the heart of the recreation area, Lucas Vazquez advanced down the proper flank. The full-back floated an inviting cross towards the penalty area, and Karim Benzema rose highest to nod it in to the top-left corner and beyond Yann Sommer.
Marcus Thuram looked for an instantaneous response, although his right-footed shot from the still left side of the box was straight in Thibault Courtois.
The visitors had a major chance in the 24th minute. Florian Neuhaus determined a lawn of space at the heart of the park and slid a throughball beyond the Madrid defence for Alassane Plea to chase. The Frenchman latched onto the pass but, when one-on-one with Courtois, dinked his work from the center of the box wide of the far content.
Madrid doubled their lead in the half-hour mark. Some clever link-up take up led to Rodrygo advancing down the proper wing. The winger curled an inch-perfect cross into the field, which Benzema steered beyond Sommer from close spectrum.
Soon after, Vazquez collection Rodrygo away straight down the proper flank, and the Brazilian chosen Luka Modric at the heart of the field. The Croatian opted to have the shot on first-time, and lashed it against the woodwork.
Los Blancos had started the next half confidently. Similar to the first one half, Zidane’s team were seeking to advance down the right flank through Vazquez. The full-back's cross was fulfilled by Benzema in the centre of the box, however the Frenchman's header was very well preserved down low to his kept by Sommer.
The hosts were looking very relaxed as the match entered the latter stages. Vasquez rattled the content after being enjoyed in by Benzema as Madrid somehow didn't add to their business lead despite creating a complete host of opportunities.
