Breaking: Barca Sack Valverde, Announce New Coach
Spanish giants FC Barcelona have somewhat surprisingly sacked coach Ernesto Valverde and announced his successor on Tuesday morning.

The Catalan giants’ board met on Monday and decided to dismiss Valverde, who had been in charge since the beginning of the 2017/18 campaign and won two LaLiga titles, one Copa del Rey and one Supercopa de Espana during his reign.

Barca dismissed Valverde despite sitting at the top of LaLiga and having qualified their ticket for the UEFA Champions League knockout stages.

Valverde's last game in charge saw the Blaugrana lose 3-2 to Atletico Madrid in the Supercopa de Espana semi-final, with Barca winning just one of the last five games in all competitions.

Just hours after Valverde’s dismissal, Barcelona announced that Quique Setien will take over the reigns at the Camp Nou.

The 61-year-old, who was last in charge of Real Betis, signed a contract until June 2022 and will be presented on Tuesday.
