Casinos, Common Studios, Singapore Zoo among 13 sights to reopen found in July during Phase 2
29 June, 2020
Tourism-connected businesses will be permitted to reopen in stages during Phase 2 of the COVID-19 "circuit breaker" reopening, beginning with 13 attractions from Jul 1, said the Singapore Tourism Panel (STB) in Sunday (Jun 28).
After three months of closure, the casinos at Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa, Universal Studios Singapore and Singapore Zoo may resume functions after having had their secure reopening proposals approved, said STB in a media release.
The other attractions that may reopen from Jul 1 are: ArtScience Museum, Sands SkyPark and Observation Deck, Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay, S.E.A. Aquarium, Madame Tussauds, Jurong Bird Park, River Safari, Bounce and Zero Latency.
Domestic tour operators may also start submitting applications to resume operations.
Most attractions will get restricted to 25 per cent of their operating potential "to begin with". Sights and tour operators must follow this guideline and apply other safe management methods that are "customized to lessen the COVID-19 transmitting risks of each attraction or tour", stated STB.
Such measures should be contained in their reopening proposals, which is assessed by the tourism board.
"Operators need to demonstrate effective implementation of safe and sound management measures to supply a safe environment for customers and workers, and may resume operations only after receiving authorization from the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI)," said STB.

Usage of the casinos will come to be limited by existing members and total annual levy holders.

Only Friends of the Gardens members should be able to visit Flower Dome at Gardens simply by the Bay from Jul 1, as the public can do thus from Jul 11 onwards. The attraction will most probably from 9am to 8pm.
Visitors must e book their timed-entry tickets beforehand, as being physical ticketing counters will not be open. Tickets go on sales online from Jul 7.
Gardens by the Bay said these ticketed sights will remain closed on Jul 1 and open found in phases at a later time: Cloud Forest, OCBC Skyway, Supertree Observatory, Floral Fantasy and the Back garden Rhapsody audio and light show.

STB leader Keith Tan said Singapore's "tourism sector has been hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, but our industry companions have responded with professionalism and resilience".
"With tourism reopening in a safe and gradual way, STB’s key priority will be to ensure that tourism businesses provides a safe and pleasant experience because of their guests and visitors.
"Although it will be some time before Singapore may fully welcome international visitors, we trust Singaporeans and occupants of Singapore will love what our tourism businesses have to offer, in a good socially responsible method," added Mr Tan.
