China's Hubei to look at thorough checks on people to curb COVID-19
The central Chinese province of Hubei will adopt more thorough and forceful measures to find patients with fever to help expand help contain the fresh coronavirus epidemic, the state media reported on Tuesday (Feb 18).

Hubei will check information of most fever patients who have visited doctors since Jan 20, and people who've bought over-the-counter cough and fever medicines at both brick-and-mortar and online medicine retailers, Xinhua reported, citing a good see by the province's epidemic control headquarters.

The people are certain to get health check-ups and, if important, be placed in quarantine or hospitalised, the report added, citing the notice.

China reported on Tuesday its fewest COVID-19 attacks since January and its lowest daily loss of life toll for weekly, however the World Health Organization said info suggesting the epidemic had slowed should be viewed with caution.

China said numbers showing a slowdown found in new cases in latest days show that aggressive actions it has taken to curb travel and commerce are slowing the spread of the condition beyond Hubei and the province's capital, Wuhan.
