China's Xinhua condemns raids on Chinese journalists in Australia

Raids on Chinese journalists moving into Australia are actually "utterly appalling" and destruction relations between the two countries, state information agency Xinhua said.
China's state-supported tabloid Global Circumstances reported earlier this week that Australian authorities raided the homes of four Chinese journalists residing in the united states in June.
"This gross, imperious and unreasonable action was utterly appalling. It completely exposes the ColdWar mentality and political prejudice of some Australian departments and officials," a Xinhua spokesperson said, based on the agency.
"What they have done not only seriously harms the status and image of Chinese media, but also seriously inhibits the normal people-to-persons exchanges between China and Australia," added the spokesperson, who was not identified.
On Thursday, foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said that such action from Australia "blatantly violates the genuine rights and interests of Chinese journalists now there and caused severe harm to the physical and mental overall health of the journalists and their own families".
Australia's trade minister on Friday responded to the reports saying that security organizations had acted relative to the law.
Relations between your two major trading companions have become increasingly strained and media of the raids coincided with the exit of two Australian journalists from China.
The pair returned residence with the aid of consular officials after China's state security visited their residences in Beijing and Shanghai and questioned them.
Another Australian citizen, Chinese television set anchor Cheng Lei, was detained by Chinese authorities found in August.
