Chinese e-commerce retailers eye German market
04 December, 2018
Germany is fast becoming a popular destination for Chinese e-commerce retailers to export their goods, Yicai.com reported.
Currently, China has become the largest source for German online cross-border shopping. For every three pieces of overseas products purchased by German consumers on the eBay platform, two are from China, the report said.
“The number of German e-commerce users has reached 56 million,” said Zheng Changqing, general manager of eBay International Cross-border Trade China. “Germans like online shopping. The country’s e-commerce penetration rate is one of the best in Europe.”
Zheng’s team hope to tap the market void, in order to help Chinese sellers explore the German market. Smart watches, drones, 3D printers, furniture, home appliances, brake discs, bicycles, personal protective equipment are all in high demand, but lack sufficient supply, according to a report published by eBay.
According to Forrester Research, the German e-commerce market has reached 49.8 billion euros (US$56.54 billion), and is expected to grow to 55.7 billion euros by the end of 2018.
