Cosmetics Makers Enjoy Bumper Summer Sale
Cosmetics sales are rebounding after a slump amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Health and beauty chain CJ Olive Young earned W107.2 billion from a summer sale from June 3 to 9 (US$1=W1,115). It's the first-time the retailer sold a lot more than W100 billion worth of cosmetics in a week-long sale event, up thirty percent from a spring sale in March and 15 percent from the 2019 summer sale.

When compared to spring sale, sales of make-up soared twenty five percent and of skincare products 23 percent. Makeup products showed a marked rebound once they were hit particularly hard by the pandemic.

Last year at Lotte Department Store, make-up sales plunged 26 percent from the prior year as everyone wore masks, in comparison to a mere four percent for skincare products.
