Denmark hold off Czech rally to keep Euro 2020 dream alive
Czech Republic 1-2 Denmark

Denmark's fairytale run at EURO 2020 continued after defeating the Czech Republic 2-1 to secure a spot in the semi-finals on Saturday night.

The Danes got off to the perfect start as Thomas Delaney lost his marker to send a powerful header past Tomas Vaclik from Jens Stryger Larsen's corner on five minutes.

The Czech struggled to gain a hold of the ball after falling behind, but they had to wait until the 24th minute for an opening as Coufal's cross found Tomas Soucek who nodded wide of the mark.

Denmark nearly added a second goal from a swift counter attack eight minutes before the halftime break, but Damsgaard saw his powerful strike saved by Vaclik.

The Danes were not to be denied a few minutes later as Kasper Dolberg bagged his third goal of the tournament after turning home a superb cross from Joakim Maehle.

Czech Republic responded soon after the break when Patrick Schick bagged his fifth goal of the tournament with a sweeping first-time finish from Vladimir Coufal's cross., moving level with Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Czechs threw on Vladimir Darida and Matej Vydra to bolster attack as the pressure on Denmark began to grow after Yussuf Poulsen and Christian Norgaard were introduced for the opponents.

In the end, the Danes were able to see out the closing stages to secure the win and a spot in the final four.
