DJ Fade the Future living the career of his dreams
Dubbed the ‘Dancing DJ’, international disc jockey and producer DJ Fade the Future has been bouncing to the beat of his own drum with style, enviable turntable skills and killer moves. Only recently, the disc jock who has gained endorsements from the likes of Rihanna, Swizz Beatz, Lebron James, and Shaggy travelled to Jamaica for the launch of Heineken’s After-work pop-up series. During his time here, he shared snippets of his journey that have become a testament to what it means to chart your own destiny.

Born in New Jersey, deeply rooted in Caribbean culture, thanks to his Jamaican father, DJ Fade the Future developed an early love for reggae, dancehall, and sound systems, which have played a significant role in his career. “Since I have Jamaican roots, reggae music has always been a part of me. My father was a DJ in New York, and he taught me so much about music equipment so that I would be fully prepared to become the best DJ. In Jamaican culture, having the best sound system is what separates you from the competition,” he explained, asserting that it was this connection to Jamaican culture and music that has given him a unique edge in his music production.

Turning things up a notch, DJ Fade the Future also became well known for his killer dance moves, earning the moniker of the ‘Dancing DJ’. He reflects on his early days growing up in East Orange, New Jersey, and how this influenced his flow and his approach as   a full-time DJ. “In my area, ‘Jersey Club’ is the most popular style of music, and it’s dance-based. Most of the songs would tell you which dance move to do, similar to some of Ding Dong’s tracks. I was always infatuated with dancing, so I wanted to be a part of the soundtrack that inspires people to create new moves.”

With a career spanning over a decade, the US-based DJ has had monumental growth in the music industry. “I have been in the music business for over 10 years. It began with deejaying, and then I picked up music production to expand my talents. My remixes and original tracks are played at festivals and have been used for major television shows. Performing at Essence Festival was another major accomplishment of mine. The company booked me for their ‘Beauty Carnival’ segment, which paid tribute to the Caribbean community. I have also worked with Hot 97, Dream Weekend, Hulu, Disney, Neiman Marcus, Art Basel, Prudential Center, and Rockefeller Center, to name a few,” he shared.

Having been the featured international DJ at the recently launched Heineken After-work pop-up series, DJ Fade the Future said he felt humbled to be invited by the beer brand for the execution. Remaining true to himself, he was seen dancing with patrons at the TacBar at Devon House. The very sociable and charismatic DJ was a crowd favourite.

Even with numerous accolades under his belt already, DJ Fade the Future is looking to push his limit through further growth and expansion. “I have found my passion. Playing music in front of people always brought me a feeling like no other. After my show at Dream Weekend, I discovered playing hardcore dancehall records brings me a different type of energy. When I played my Beenie Man dubplate for the first time in Jamaica, after seeing the crowd response, I knew deejaying for the Caribbean market is one thing I will continue to explore. I would like to accomplish working with some of the artistes in Jamaica I grew up listening to. In the American market, my production is well known, but I would like to explore other markets, and, right now, I am starting with dancehall.”
