Dwayne Johnson has revealed that he previously auditioned for the component of popular figure Jack Reacher but shed out to Hollywood star Tom Cruise.
During a Q&A session on Instagram, Johnson stated he was confident about bagging the part since he believed his physical attributes are perfect for the type, created by author Lee Child.
“In Hollywood, actors are actually kind of like in-a-box. There happen to be actors that may vie for a specific role because it allows for them to possess some look, skin color, size, etc.
“Fortunately, for me personally, there aren’t a whole lot of guys at most who look like me. So, most of my roles, right from the start of my career, I’ve been a lucky child of a b***h that they’ve been designed and designed for me except Jack Reacher,” he said.
Johnson said at the time Cruise was first “biggest movie star in the world, and I had not been”.
“I got the call telling ‘Hey, you didn’t get the purpose’. Appear, I didn’t even understand if I acquired a go for it, but the people around me at that time made me think that I did. I sensed like I did so, I sensed like ‘Why certainly not me?'” he added.
However, the actor in the future got the chance to play Luke Hobbs in fifth installment of the “Fast & Furious” franchise. Now, Johnson is probably the highest-paid actors in Hollywood.
“I’m positive that the role of Jack Reacher, since it was an established figure, an IP that was well known and beloved all over the world, that I wouldn’t experienced the creative space to accomplish what I wanted with the character, he said.
“I look back gratitude that I didn’t get Jack Reacher,” he added.
Cruise had played the type in two films -2012’s “Jack Reacher” and its own 2016 sequel “Jack Reacher: Never RETURN BACK”.
