Egypt's El Sisi and US President Biden discuss Gaza ceasefire and reconstruction
US President Joe Biden called Egyptian head Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Mon to go over strengthening the Gaza ceasefire, urgent humanitarian help to the strip and international efforts to rebuild it, the Egyptian president's office said.

Both leaders also discussed ways to revive the peace process between Palestinians and Israelis following the most recent wave of violence, Mr El Sisi's office said.

Egypt brokered the ceasefire, now in its 4th day, after 11 times of hostilities. US Secretary of Talk about Antony Blinken will stop in Cairo on his go to to the region.

"Biden clarified his country's perseverance to work to revive calm and restore circumstances as they were in the Palestinian territories, as well as co-ordinating work with all international partners to aid the Palestinian Authority and also reconstruction," the Egyptian presidency explained.

It was Mr Biden's second phone to Mr El Sisi in less than a week to go over the conflict.

The debate this time was also expanded to bilateral relations plus some regional issues, including Libya and Iraq.

Mr Biden and Mr El Sisi exchanged opinions on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, which Ethiopia is construction on the Blue Nile and which Egypt regards as an existential threat.

"It was decided to strengthen diplomatic attempts through the coming period in order to reach an contract that preserves normal water and developmental rights for all parties," the statement said.

Mr El Sisi and Mr Biden also discussed individual rights in Egypt and their "commitment to engage in a transparent dialogue ... in this regard".
