EU set to allow vaccinated US tourists to visit this summer
The EU plans to open its doors come early july to US tourists who've been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, The New York Times reported.

The change, which would come with certain conditions, would end the bloc’s ban greater than twelve months on non-essential travel from most countries to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

The most recent move came after “huge progress” in US vaccinations and as talks advanced on both sides on the proof immunity for visitors, allowing the EU's governing body to recommend a change in policy.

“The Americans, so far as I could see, use European Medicines Agency-approved vaccines,” said Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission.

“This will allow free movement and happen to be europe.”

The bloc’s regulator has approved the three vaccines found in the united states, from Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson.

As the bloc will recommend the change, member states could still keep stricter restrictions, which may include quarantines.

The resumption of travel is based “on the epidemiological situation, however the situation is improving in america, since it is, hopefully, also bettering in the European Union", Ms von der Leyen said.

The US STATE DEPT. last week issued “Usually do not Travel” advisories for approximately 80 % of the world’s nations, including most EU countries aside from Spain, Austria, Denmark and Estonia. THE UNITED KINGDOM isn't on the list.

The White House National Security Council had no immediate response to the report on Sunday.

Officials in Brussels have discussed the prospect of counting on government-issued vaccine certificates to allow free travel.

The US government said it would not issue "vaccine passports" as a result of privacy concerns, and any such efforts ought to be led by the private and not-for-profit sectors.

About 42 % of the united states population has had at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine up to now, and 28.5 % are fully vaccinated.
