Global COVID-19 cases rise by a one-day record of 400,000

Global coronavirus cases rose by a lot more than 400,000 for the first time on Saturday (Oct 17), an archive one-day increase as a lot of Europe enacts new restrictions to curb the outbreak.

In Spain, authorities in Catalonia ordered bars and restaurants to close for 15 days and limited the numbers of men and women allowed in shops.
The Czech Republic has also shifted schools to distance education and plans to call up a large number of medical students. Hospitals are cutting non-urgent surgical procedures to free up beds.
