Gold Prices Surge to 5-Year High

The U.S.-China trade war has sent gold prices soaring to the highest level in five years as investors scurry to safe-haven assets.
The price of gold on the Korea Exchange reached W51,370 a gram on Friday, the highest since Korea's first gold trading market opened in March 2014 (US$1=W1,186).
In July 2016, gold soared to W50,910 after the U.K. voted to leave the EU. Since the beginning of this year it has been climbing 11.1 percent.
Daily trading volume also soared 15.9 percent from last year to 22.6 kg.
