Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge brings business opportunities
04 November, 2018
The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, which opened to traffic on Oct. 24, has injected new vigor into the area's tourism.
The bridge itself has become a scenic hot spot. A person in charge of itineraries at a travel agency in Guangzhou said group tours to the bridge are now fully booked until December.
According to the main page of a travel agency website, a one-day bridge tour currently costs between 200 and 300 yuan.
The bridge cut travel time between Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao from four hours to about 40 minutes. According to statistics, on its opening day, thousands of vehicles traveled across the bridge.
Stella Kwan Mun-yee, managing director of Hong Kong cable-car operator Ngong Ping 360, estimates that the number of tourists from Macao and Guangdong will grow by 10 percent.
The “one-hour travel circle” formed between the three destinations offers more convenience to tourists from surrounding provinces such as Fujian, Hunan, Jiangxi and Yunnan to travel to Hong Kong and Macao.
