Hotel Shilla Becomes 1st Korean Hotel to Earn 5 Stars from Forbes Guide
24 February, 2019
Hotel Shilla on Thursday became Korea's first hotel to be awarded five stars by Forbes Travel Guide, often considered the "Michelin Guide for hotels."
Now in its 61st year, it rates the world's luxury hotels, restaurants and spas. Evaluators secretly inspect around 900 hotels worldwide to assess the quality of facilities and services to see if they are star-worthy.
Among the 1,106 hotels featured on this year's ratings, 210 earned five stars including 21 new entries, 534 earned four stars and 362 earned "recommended" status.
Hotel Shilla's rating was raised from four to five stars this year, making it the only Korean hotel in the list to achieve the feat. Seoul's Four Seasons Hotel and Park Hyatt each earned four stars, with seven other hotels in Seoul included in the "recommended" list.
