How PSG Could Line Up Next Season, 4 Stars Added!
17 July, 2021
Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed four incredible signings in this transfer window, but how will they fit in with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar? Here is how the star-studded French giants could line up next season!
The Ligue 1 side have conducted excellent business over the last two months, having brought in four high-profile players to strengthen the squad available to former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino.
First welcomed to the club was Netherlands international Georginio Wijnaldum, who arrived as a free agent in June following his departure from 2019/20 Premier League champions Liverpool.
PSG’s second acquisition of the window was Morocco international Achraf Hakimi, after his €70 million switch from Serie A champions Inter Milan. Despite just being 22 years old, the fullback has already earned great experience playing in three of Europe’s top five leagues.
Hakimi first burst onto the scene at Real Madrid, making 17 senior appearances before joining Borussia Dortmund on a two-year loan deal in 2018. In Germany, he contributed to a remarkable 29 goals in 73 senior matches.
After returning to Spain from his loan spell in the Bundesliga, he was sold to Inter in a deal that seemed to be forced upon him. In Italy, however, his success continued as he played a major hand in the Nerazzurri’s triumphant title bid.
It is expected that the explosive Madrid-born defender will be Pochettino’s first-choice right-back next season, perhaps with Sergio Ramos, a familiar face to the former Los Blancos talent, two places to his left.
The 2010 FIFA World Cup winner became the club’s third signing of the window last week and is likely to feature alongside captain Marquinhos, who would probably feature on the right-side central defence given Ramos’ arrival.
On Thursday, 2020 UEFA European Championship winner and Player of the Tournament Gianluigi Donnarumma arrived as a free agent following the expiration of his deal at AC Milan last month.
Despite Keylor Navas’ seniority, the 22-year-old Donnarumma joins PSG with the reputation of being arguably the best young goalkeeper in the world, having already amassed an impressive 284 senior appearances in his career.
