How To Link Aadhaar With PAN Card With These Easy Steps

The government has set a deadline of March 31, 2018 as the last day for people to link their PAN Cards to their Aadhaar number. As you probably already know, that linkage has become mandatory in order to do a lot of things like filing your income tax returns, among other things.
According to UIDAI CEO Ajay Bhushan Pandey almost 14 crore of the 30 crore Permanent Account Numbers in India have already been linked to Aadhar. For the rest of you, here’s a quick primer on how to link Aadhaar to PAN card before you lose your cell phone connection, or worse, your bank account.
When your PAN and Aadhaar don’t match
In case there are major discrepancies in the details of your PAN and Aadhaar card, you can update your PAN online through the Income Tax Department’s portal, incometaxindia.gov.in. If your Aadhaar card is the one that needs corrections or updates you can do it online or by revisiting an enrolment centre.

You’ll need your registered phone number for the online method, as that’s where you’ll receive the OTP to confirm.
How to link Aadhaar with PAN card
If everything matches on both cards, there are two ways you can go to link your PAN and Aadhaar card. To link them via SMS, send a text to either 567678 or 56161 in this format:
UIDPAN
To instead link them online, click on the link featured on the Income Tax portal that says ‘Link Aadhaar. Here, you need to fill in your PAN, Aadhaar number, and name (exactly as it appears on your Aadhaar card) in the empty fields, and hit Submit. You’ll be asked to confirm with your OTP, after which you’ll receive a confirmation message as well.
