I am yet to accomplish the typical naach-gaana in Hindi films

Rakul Preet Singhmade her Bollywood debut with 'Yaariyan' (2014), and after a four-year-long gap and a string of films down South, her next Hindi release was 'Aiyaary' (2018). She followed it up with 'De De Pyaar De' (2019) and 'Marjaavaan' (2019). Though it took Rakul some time to find her feet in Bollywood, the actress refutes that it has anything regarding as an 'outsider'. Rakul says, "I have never believed in the insider-outsider theory. That is a debate that started only recently. I assume that only talent will help you last longer by the end of your day. People will give you a chance when you are hard-working and talented. I have found the industry very accepting. Let's face it, having contacts will help you get a chance, but it is the audience that accepts or rejects you."

With two films completed, two on floors and two prearranged, Rakul could have had a busy year at theatres. However, given the current pandemic situation, it's prematurily . to predict our return to the cinemas. Ask the actress about any of it and she replies, "Of course, it really is a bit disappointing. Some of my films were slated release a last year, and some projects, which are on hold, could have probably been completed right now and I would have shifted to another thing. I was in a fresh space after 'De De Pyaar De', and was wanting to make the almost all of it. With that said, I make an effort to calm myself down by looking at the brighter side. At least, I still have work and do not need to worry about my basic needs. I am grateful for everything I have."

She further adds, "Though we love the silver screen, each platform has its advantages. OTThas a wider reach, and of these grim times, it feels good to know you are entertaining people within their homes. Safety is of paramount importance. There are lots of people who are struggling to survive, so we can not be cribbing about films not seeing a theatrical release. Hopefully, that time, too, will return soon." Rakulis among the few Bollywood actresses, who are a recognised name in the South film industry aswell. So, how does she find time to straddle two demanding industries? "I have stopped thinking of films regarding their language. There are no borders anymore, actors are crossing over everywhere. I am yet to do the typical naach-gaana in Hindi films and I want to do this while balancing it with the other sort of cinema. I don't think it is tough to balance both industries, as I am a workaholic. That can be done so much more per day should you be organised. I sleep early and am an early on riser. So, it's about time management and getting the desire to do something. But yes, the quantity of Telugufilms that I am doing has reduced," she signs off.
