12 February, 2021
When Mrunal Thakur produced her foray from television into films, she opted for an unconventional start with Love Sonia, where she played a character caught in the flesh trade. After a film each with John Abraham (Batla House) and Hrithik Roshan (Super 30), she's nowadays picking projects which pull her out of her comfort zone in a single way or the different.
While she is gearing up to get started on focusing on Pippa, Raja Krishna Menon's war-led drama, she also offers movies like Jersey, Toofan and Aankh Micholi in the offing this year, that have her playing diametrically different characters.
Discussing what's driving her alternatives, Mrunal says, "It's the women around myself. When I was growing up, I was surrounded by girls who had strong thoughts and who would certainly not settle or compromise in times. They were principled, plus they followed their ideas to the T. They under no circumstances cared for themselves as victims, which I definitely loved and admired about every one of them. They were of the fact that if there is a situation, they will fight it and not cave in. For me, Love Sonia worked purely because the character is successful.
As an actor, I saw her as somebody who fights and will not give up. I am following the works of some leading girls journalists and opinion makers, who are generally very powerful and so are an motivation to hundreds of young ladies. My role models are the women in my family like my mother and my granny and actresses around me like Vidya Balan, who inspires me in a major way. Today, I don't wish to accomplish something that's easy. I want to do something that's difficult, that issues me. My dad feels so happy to visit a web-page with a small number of my works. Consequently, now I don't want to settle for something that's simple and less challenging. I want to help to make every job count."
