It Turns Out WhatsApp's 'Obsolete Error' Was Thanks To Xiaomi's Mistake, The Company Now Admits
Just last week, a number of WhatsApp users were complaining that their app was refusing to load, instead giving them a message saying, “This version of WhatsApp has become obsolete on 13-Jan-2018”.

Now, they’ve received an apology for the error, but from an unexpected source.

WhatsApp acknowledged the issue later on Saturday, saying it was a problem with how their app is distributed, and not their fault. However, Techook’s team say they noticed that most of the users complaining of the issue had Xiaomi smartphones and began questioning the company. Now, after several denials, the smartphone manufacturer has taken officially responsibility for the bug in an exclusive response to the publication.

“A few Xiaomi users reported an issue with WhatsApp on their smartphones,” the Xiaomi statement read. “After a thorough investigation, we learned that a beta version of WhatsApp was pushed out on our Mi App Store a few days ago, which some users updated to. We have updated our App store listing with a newer version, approved by WhatsApp, which we encourage any users facing issues, to update to. We apologise for any inconvenience faced by our Mi Fans, and promise to be more vigilant going forward.”

If you’ve faced the problem yourself, you’ll need to download the proper app version from WhatsApp’s website.
