JAL to resume all domestic flights as early as October
02 July, 2020
Japan Airlines Co said Wednesday it is planning to fully restart its household flights as early as October amid symptoms of a recovery found in travel demand, reach hard by the coronavirus pandemic.
JAL has recently started increasing the number of domestic flights since the lifting in May of a nationwide point out of emergency that found the airline cut above 70 percent of the flights from its normal schedule.
"We expect to recover to 80 percent found in August and fully operate in line with our normal timetable around October," Shunsuke Honda, an executive officer, advised reporters at Tokyo's Haneda airport terminal.
He said travel demand keeps growing since constraints on people's movements across prefectures were fully lifted on June 19.
Even so with infection rates rebounding in recent weeks in Tokyo and other large cities, Honda said, "We would like to increase the number of flights or use larger aircraft so that we can avoid fully-booked flights as much as possible."
