Kirstie Alley has passed away at the age of 71 surrounded by her family

Kirstie Alley who starred in the legendary Cheers sitcom as well as the Look who's talking trilogy has passed away at the age of 71 after a short battle with cancer, according to a statement issued by her children Lillie and True Parker.
Her children issued a statement on Twitter which read "We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered,"
She was full of life and had never-ending joy
They continued praising her strength and never-ending joy "She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead," they continued. "As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother."
She lived life to the fullest
Her family remembered her "zest and passion for life, her children, grandchildren and her many animals, not to mention her eternal joy of creating, were unparalleled and leave us inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did."
True and Lillie also had kind words for the medical staff
Her children also acknowledged the care she received at the cancer treatment facility as well as the medical staff that took care of her during the difficult times "incredible team of doctors and nurses" at the Moffitt Cancer Center.
The statement concluded with both her children thanking the fans and loved ones during this difficult time "We thank you for your love and prayers and ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time."
Kirstie Alley's work was well known by many in the '80s and '90s as she starred in the Boston classic Cheers. She played the part of Rebecca, Ted Danson's character Sammy Malone's love interest and it was that role that made her earn her Emmy and opened the doors for her to jump to the big screen and star in the critically acclaimed "Look who's talking" alongside John Travolta and Bruce Willis.
