Korea Lags in Business Environment for Female Entrepreneurs
Korea still has a long way to go in terms of favorable conditions for women to operate a business.

MasterCard said in a report released on Friday that Korea scored 59 out of 100 in its Index of Women Entrepreneurs, which evaluates the business environment for female entrepreneurs, to rank 36th among 58 countries representing nearly 80 percent of the world's female labor force.

Each country was examined according to three components -- "women's advancement outcomes," "knowledge assets and financial access" and "supporting entrepreneurial conditions."

The report said, "In Korea, women's entrepreneurial activity rate increased notably from 10.3 percent in 2017 to 12.2 percent in 2018, driven by a rise in female entrepreneurs seeking greater income or financial independence."

The U.S. topped the list, followed by New Zealand and Canada. Egypt came last.
