Kylie dethrones Mark Zuckerberg?
07 March, 2019
Move over Mark Zuckerberg. At 21, Kylie Jenner has been named the youngest-ever, self-made billionaire by Forbes magazine, reaching a ten-figure fortune at a younger age than even Mark Zuckerberg (who was 23 when he hit that mark).
The youngest Kardashian family member is making her fortune from her best-selling cosmetics business. The reality TV star and make-up mogul founded and owns Kylie Cosmetics, the three-year-old beauty business that generated an estimated $360m in sales last year.
"I didn't expect anything. I did not foresee the future," says Jenner, who is the youngest billionaire in the world. "But [the recognition] feels really good. That's a nice pat on the back."
The list shows Amazon's founder, Jeff Bezos, remains the world's richest man. His fortune totals USD 131bn, according to Forbes, up USD 19bn from 2018. But the billionaires' combined worth is down from USD 9.1 trillion at USD 8.7tn.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg's wealth is among those falling. It has dropped by USD 8.7 billion in the past year to USD 62.3 billion, according to the Forbes list. His shares in Facebook at one point lost a third of their value as the company battled privacy scandals.
