LG Uplus' Market Share Grows
06 September, 2018
Perennial No. 3 LG Uplus is catching up fast with its rival mobile providers with a market share that has almost reached 20 percent thanks to a wider range of data plans.
LG's market share rose 0.3 percentage points from two years earlier to 19.8 percent as of July after SK Telecom (42.1 percent) and KT (25.7 percent), according to Ministry of Science and ICT data released Wednesday.
SK fell from 44.3 percent, while KT rose slightly from 25.5 percent.
LG Uplus is expected to reach 20 percent soon as it tries to offer a greater variety of call and data plans to meet customers' needs.
"The three mobile providers are now competing to offer affordable packages with additional services as their quality has improved about equally," an industry insider said.
