Liverpool kept their top-four hopes alive the Premier League with a 1-0 away to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday evening.

The Reds manager Jurgen Klopp named the same side that beat RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions Group previous Wednesday, with former Wolves star Diogo Jota leading the front range., flanked by Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

The hosts were pressing Liverpool saturated in the starting exchanges, not allowing them to build from the trunk and Nuno Espirito Santo's charges carved away better openings but their decision making in the ultimate third let them downwards.

The visitors had Nathaniel Phillips to thank for his headed clearance in the 32nd minute from a cross that was heading towards the unmarked Willian Jose at the trunk post.

On the other hand, Jota broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-period against his former side with a minimal strike at the around post from Mane's through ball that goalkeeper Rui Patricio could only get a slight touch to.

Conor Coady had a major chance to level matters for Nuno Espirito Santo's charges four moments from the break after an excellent cross by Romain Saiss but he guided his header over the bar interior from six-yards out.

Salah had a wonderful possibility to kill off the game for the Reds within the last 10 minutes after getting in back of the Wolves' defence but his right-footed shot was tipped away by Patricio, who also denied Jota found in the same moment.

The hosts had a concussion problems for worry about in the last 3 minutes after Patricio collided with Coady's knee and after an extended stoppage to get him safely off the pitch he was replaced by fellow goalkeeper John Ruddy.

Wolvers were unable to find a way back into the contest, seeing that Liverpool held in the end on to a narrow win that took them up to 6th on the log, five tips behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
