The fractious Lotte owner family were briefly reunited Wednesday as conglomerate founder Shin Kyuk-ho was laid to rest.
The patriarch died Sunday of a chronic illness at the age of 99.
A hearse carrying his body slowly circled Lotte World Tower in Seoul for five minutes before he was laid to rest. Some 1,400 Lotte staff paid silent tribute.
It took nearly 30 years to complete the 123-story landmark since Shin first envisioned it. It opened in April 2017 and he occupied a floor there in his final years as his heirs tore each other apart.
Standing beside the casket until it was carried out of Asan Medical Center in Seoul were Shin's wife Hatsuko Shigemitsu, his eldest son Dong-joo, his estranged second son and now Lotte chairman Dong-bin, and his eldest daughter Shin Young-ja.
He was interred at the family plot in his hometown of Ulsan.
