Lukaku: I'm One Of The Five Best Strikers In The World
31 December, 2020
Former Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku believes he is among the five best strikers found in world football, and in addition named two managers who've had big influences on his game.
The Inter Milan forward has enjoyed an excellent season . 5 in Italy following his big-funds exit from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Red Devils in August 2019.
This season, the 27-year-old, with 35 goals at club level, has only been outscored by Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski and Juventus' Cristiano Ronaldo. As such, he was just lately asked whether he thinks he's one of the best strikers in the overall game today.
"Now? During the past five months, yes," he advised Sport/Voetbalmagazine.
"I don't desire to rank that group in one to five, but I'm portion of it at this time."
Lukaku also discussed functioning under Jose Mourinho and Roberto Martinez, two managers he feels helped him turn into a much better player.
"Mourinho taught me personally to are better with the crew, both regarding pressing and to position me better on the discipline. Just appear at what he's carrying out with Harry Kane today," he added.
"I used to take pleasure in vertical football. I found myself to come to be virtually all dangerous when I was facing the target. I am fast, I can remove my immediate opponent with a dribble, or swerve left or the right.
"That was my video game during the past, also because I was often in clubs that played on the counter. However the national workforce has appreciated me to modify my playing style.
"With Belgium, all of us quickly became a team that had the virtually all possession and got minimal space (to play in). Roberto Martinez do everything he could to create me feel convenient with my back again to objective, both with the countrywide team and again at Everton.
"At the age of 20, I still had a lot to learn. But I quickly realised that if I could train that facet of my play, I could do what I wanted in a match."
