Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) leader Anwar Ibrahim features outlined why he's against a good proposal for Dr Mahathir Mohamad to serve due to prime minister for a transitional period of half a year if Pakatan Harapan (PH) recaptures Putrajaya, stating that it's period for Malaysian politics to begin anew.

In a television set interview with CNA's Melissa Goh, Mr Anwar explained the short transition would render the prime minister ineffective. 

"(If there is) a transition of six months, after two months persons will consult when, when's the date? What’s going to happen? Will you contain the same Cabinet, will you change it?  You have half a year of not being able to give attention to reform and the market," he said.  

Since Dr Mahathir has served doubly prime minister - primary as the first choice of then-ruling coalition Barisan Nasional for 22 years and next as chairman of PH following the 2018 general election - Mr Anwar said it's time to move on. 

"I emphasise it isn't question of personality. It's a issue of an possibility to begin anew, a brand new start for this nation. Malaysians deserve something better," he advised CNA. 

PH was voted into Putrajaya in the 2018 general election with Dr Mahathir at the helm, but the administration collapsed in February immediately after Mr Muhyiddin Yassin led Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia out of your coalition. 

Mr Muhyiddin, who's backed by Barisan Nasional and Parti Islam Se-Malaysia, was sworn in as Malaysia’s eighth prime minister leading the Perikatan Nasional (PN) pact. 

PH, which finds itself as being the opposition coalition once again, was strategising its moves to regain federal electric power but reached a good stalemate when component get-togethers and their allies could not agree more than the candidacy for premiership.

Parti Amanah Negara and Democratic Action Party were towards bringing Dr Mahathir rear as primary minister and Mr Anwar seeing that his deputy, after Mr Anwar didn't convince the ruling status coalition found in Sarawak to backside him for the top post. 

However, PKR provides rejected the option and insisted that Mr Anwar should contain the premiership if the coalition returns to Putrajaya.

On whether Dr Mahathir can play an advisory part in the federal government, Mr Anwar told CNA he's available to discussion. His PH co-workers contain proposed to appoint Dr Mahathir as senior minister or minister mentor, he added. 

"But what cannot be compromised is that the brand new government we will form should be totally dedicated to the full structural reform, obvious definitive economic policy which will generate growth and be sure there is distributive justice, regardless of race," he said.

Mr Anwar likewise said that PKR has recently started to prepare for elections, whilst PH insists that it was given the mandate to guideline but PN had grabbed ability "by treacherous means". 

"We'd the mandate, we've the numbers, then your mandate ought to be returned. 

"But notwithstanding, we have to be prepared for the elections. That was evidently the agenda. We've set up our elections machinery going to the states. And we should prepare yourself," he said.
