African superstars Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane were on target for Liverpool, who defeated West Ham United in a five-goal thriller on Monday night.

With Jordan Henderson and James Milner really missing out through injury, Guinea international Naby Keita was drafted into the midfield as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remained on the bench.

The Reds got the breakthrough after nine minutes as Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross from the proper flank was nodded home by Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.

The Hammers weren't behind for too long, with Issa Diop restoring parity for the visitors with a glancing header that beat Alisson Becker at his near post.

Jurgen Klopp's men continued to push for another goal and were almost rewarded after thirty minutes when Alexander-Arnold fired just wide of the upright while Diop went close for the visitors at the other end minutes later.

After a lttle bit of a lull in the overall game, Anfield was stunned into silence ten minutes in to the second half as Hammers substitute Pablo Fornals volleyed home Declan Rice's cross for a shock lead.

The hosts must have been level just after the hour mark when Roberto Firmino was left un-marked for a corner, however the Brazilian sent his header over the crossbar from 10-yards out.

The equaliser eventually arrived for the Reds eight minutes later via Salah's low strike which sailed through legs of Hammers goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, who'll not want to remember that big error.

The turnaround was filled with 10 minutes remaining in the contest as Alexander-Arnold got the ball ahead of Fabianski and sent a ball into the six-yard area, where Mane was on hand to net home the winning goal.

Mane thought he had bagged a second goal 5 minutes later with another simple tap-in from Alexander-Arnold's cross however the strike was flagged for offside as the come across ended 3-2 in Liverpool's favour.
