Meghan Markle picks up custom-made Tshepo jeans as she visits Johannesburg art studio
About one month ago, designer Tshepo Mohlala received a very special order for a pair of jeans and on Monday, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex collected them in person.

The royal visited Mohlala's atelier for his eponymous denim brand, Tshepo, yesterday as part of a solo engagement at Victoria Yards, a creative community in Johannesburg.

Meghan, who is on a 10-day tour of South Africa, met with artists, designers and entrepreneurs during her visit, including Mohlala, who surprised the royal with a specially crafted pair of dungarees for the duchess's four-month-old son, Archie.

"About four weeks ago I got a call from the British embassy. The Duchess of Sussex placed an order for a pair of jeans and today she came to collect them personally," the designer posted on Twitter as he shared an image from Meghan's visit.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's official Instagram account, Sussex Royal, also shared an anecdote from her trip to the Tshepo workshop.

"[The Duchess of Sussex] struck by the local denim designer who founded eponymous brand Tshepo who shared this info about the logo for his line: 'The crown on my jeans represents the three ladies who raised me. Enjoy wearing this crown.' Such a beautiful and touching sentiment," Sussex Royal posted, along with images from Meghan's time at Victoria Yards.

The duchess also visited children's development programme Timbuktu in The Valley, where she met with little ones that have benefitted from its workshops, and Sneakers 4 Change, a local charity.

Meghan also met the owners of Sobae Frozen, a business that creates vegan sorbet from unused fruit from Victoria Yards, as well as Young Bucks, which creates books out of recycled materials, at the creative hub, which houses local artisans and socially conscious businesses.

The royal was also treated to a poetry performance by Belita Andre during her solo engagement, made as her husband, Prince Harry, was in Malawi, visiting Liwonde National Park. The couple will reunite in Johannesburg this week, before returning to the UK.

During their royal tour, Prince Harry and Meghan have met former archbishop and Nobel Prize winner Desmond Tutu, visited a mosque in Cape Town's Bo-Kaap district, and taken part in wellness activities with the Waves for Change foundation.
