'Midtown Mod' in Westmoreland: Vintage fashions and furniture
31 October, 2021
A new store featuring vintage goods of various sorts has opened in the Westmoreland business district
For those who enjoy old-fashioned styles in clothing and furniture, this is now "Midtown Mod" – a vintage specialty store at 7011 S.E. Milwaukie Avenue. There is also artwork and advertising of the past, as well as lighting and bar ware. Owner Mary Barbaro opened the store earlier this year, and has presented a continuous array of items both at the Westmoreland shop and at various vintage shows she attends which are open to the public.
In addition to the vintage kitchen items and stationery displayed up front, Barbaro also has a large Tiki display, and offers fresh weekly finds and occasional antiques. The shop is open daily from noon till 5 p.m., and currently has about 50 pieces of furniture. There are also textiles, fine art, and garden décor items available in the 1,200-sq-ft showroom, and there will be many vintage Holiday items on display closer to the end of the year.
Barbaro makes house calls to sellers, and is qualified to evaluate their items. You can call her at 503/504-5848. "It's been a tricky time for new businesses," she remarks, "But we're maintaining a good supply of vintage items here." The new store replaces "Familia" – it is just south of the Westmoreland Starbucks, and is on the same block as Stars Antiques Malls.
