Misfiring Barca Move 13 Points Clear Of Real

LaLiga leaders FC Barcelona endured a frustrating evening at the Camp Nou after being held to a goalless draw by Girona.

Xavi Hernandez made just two changes from El Clasico defeat last Thursday, as Eric Garcia and Ansu Fati were recalled as Marco Alonso and Franck Kessie dropped to the bench.
The game got off to a lively start, with Robert Lewandowski squandered two chances in the opening ten minutes which included firing one over the crossbar from six yards. Girona managed to carve out a chance of their own in the 21st minute when Ivan Martin surged towards the box before unleashing a strike that sailed just wide of Marc-Andre ter Stegen's far post.
The visitors goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga was called upon in the latter stages of the first half, first to keep out Raphinha's shot from a tight angle before thwarted Ronald Araujo's header moments later.
Xavi threw on a change for start of the second half as Sergi Roberto made way for Kessie in midfield, while Girona withdrew Borja Garcia for Aleix Garcia.
Girona had a big chance to go ahead ten minutes after the break as Valentín Castellanos latched onto a through-ball from Martin to go clear on goal, but the forward fired wide with Ter Stegen rushing off his line.
Despite the changes from both sides in the second stanza, neither were able to find the breakthrough as Gazzaniga produced a superb save to keep out Gavi's header to Girona point.
The draw sees Barcelona move 13 points clear of Real Madrid, who suffered defeat to Villarreal on Saturday night.
