Misfiring Man Utd Suffer First Loss Under Rangnick
Manchester United's top four hopes suffered another blow after going down 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night.

Phil Jones made his first league start in just under two years after Harry Maguire was unable to feature, while Bruno Fernandes was only named on the bench after returning from suspension.

Wolves had the first real opening after 11 minutes when Daniel Podence surged towards the box before unleashing a strike that forced David de Gea to poke wide, while the United shot-stopper produced another fine stop minutes later to deny Ruben Neves.

United, meanwhile, looked nothing like the side that defeated Burnley four days ago as they struggled to carve out any clear-cut openings in the Wolves 18-yard area.

That proved to be the trend for the remainder of the first half as Ralf Rangnick's men failed to register a single effort on target in the opening 45 minutes.

With the situation not changing in the second half, Rangnick opted for a switch just before the hour mark as Mason Greenwood for Fernandes.

The move nearly paid off six minutes later when Nemanja Matic got to the byline to before picking out the Portuguese star, who sent his effort against the crossbar from 12-yards out.

The woodwork came to United's rescue in the 75th minute as Roman Saiss' saw his curling free-kick rattle the frame of the goal from the edge of the box, with De Gea seemingly beaten.

However, Wovles got their reward six minutes later when Jones' headed clearance landed at the feet of Joao Moutinho, who took one touch before firing into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
