17 September, 2018
Nepal is making great efforts to boost arrivals from India and other countries, with a focus on the adventure, the Himalayas, and the Visit Nepal 2020 campaign.
A strong delegation from the country was at the PATA Mart in Langkawi, Malaysia, to tell the world that it is the only country with a living goddess and that several trekking routes are available for mountain lovers.
Focusing on the religious tourism aspect, Sunil Gupta, managing director of Rex Travels, Kathmandu, told this correspondent during the IATO convention in Vizag that to overcome the high air fares to Nepal from India, he has started package road tours from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, which has good train connections.
Pilgrim traffic from India is strong, and he is catering to it with a 6-night Holy Nepal package covering Kathamandu, Jomsom, and Pokhara, all places rich in temples. Other packages such as Enchanting Nepal and Charming Nepal cover Chitwan National Park, Kathmandu, and Pokhara, plus Kathmandu. He is also doing a 14-night Kailash Mansarovar trip. A Buddhist pilgrimage tour covers Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha, and Kathmandu. Rex has a wide network of agents in different cities in India to facilitate travel.
At PATA Mart, the country reps showed an impressive presentation to entice people to come to the country, especially during the 2020 visit Nepal year.
